Notes - 1911. GWENDOLIN ETHEL
The youngest child born at Ealing and named ETHEL after Dr. ETHEL BOWLBY. In about 1921, when the family were living at IVERWOOD, WEYBRIDGE, she had to undergo an operation and a trained Irish nurse was engaged to look after her. While she was unconscious the nurse had put an unprotected boiling hot water bottle under her with terrible results - leaving not only permanent scars, but probably affecting her whole life. In about 1923 she went to Eothen School at Caterham and later as a boarder to Effingham House, Bexhill, finishing at Vevey in Switzerland. Gwen was not fond of out-door sports and her operation delayed her schooling, with the result that she did not really enjoy her school days.
In 1938 at Tonbridge (2A 1656) she married Frank CHAPMAN, a chartered accountant with a high position in the Public Trustee Department at Manchester or Liverpool. He was 26 years older than Gwen, a keen golfer and bridge player and, in spite of having a son, Anthony, Gwen and Frank did not get on well together and Gwen obtained a divorce in about 1948.
In about 1975 she commenced a happy association with a man some years her senior - a Mr. ‘Freddie’ Frost and, having changed her name to his, they were married at Eastbourne early in 1971. Albert FJ. Frost died in 1975. - Passenger List :
